ABOUT OUR COMPANY

Cariba International was formed in 1978 by Stephen Hopwood, a Jamaican by birth. He had been involved with consumer product distribution since the early 1960's. In 1974 he migrated to Florida where he set up as a broker writing orders for direct shipment of U.S. manufactured products to customers in the Caribbean and around the world. By 1978 he saw Cariba could better serve the manufacturers he represented and the customers he served, by buying and consolidating the shipment of goods which had a direct and immediate reduction in freight and forwarding charges. This resulted in lower duties and ultimately, much lower prices for the consumers.

In 1983, Brian Ladell joined Stephen as a partner and oversaw sales and operations, regularly traveling to the Caribbean Islands for sales presentations and the introduction of new products, prior to the ease and convenience of the Internet. After many years of hard work and successfully growing the brands and business, both Stephen and Brian wanted to retire.

Introduced by a mutual friend in 2010, the company was sold to Rob Harrison and Anece Hughes. This allowed Stephen the opportunity to retire and Brian remained with the company until 2012 to assist with the transition of ownership.

Cariba prides itself with having a multicultural staff, with several having 20+ years with the company, providing an extensive and diverse knowledge of the markets we serve and of the export distribution business as a whole. This also allows Cariba International to continue to offer the consistent customer service that has always been provided.

We continue to expand our product lines and business partners into other regions of the world and offer our services globally.

The Caribbean market within themselves are truly diverse. In the region rich with cultural heritage you will hear English, Spanish, French, Dutch, Portuguese, Creole and a plethora of dialects of these languages. The migration of Africans, Europeans, Asians and Middle Easterners has produced a mosaic of people as beautiful as the countries themselves. Experience in this area has given us the ability to adjust to the ever changing global environment with mixes of race, region and cultural.

We continue to expand our product lines and business partners into other regions of the world and offer our services globally. We currently have partnerships in the Caribbean, Central America, South America, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Fiji & Cypress. Our customers happiness and satisfaction with their delivery of our products and service, is our ultimate goal.

Cariba International has partnered with many of these vendors since it's inception and have worked very closely with the introduction of various new products into the Caribbean regions. We continue to work with Industry leaders in the Health & Beauty Category, such as the Ethnic Division of L'Oreal, SoftSheen Carson. We have recently expanded from primarily offering Health & Beauty Aids and now we can supply our customers

with quality Medical Products for Hospitals and Doctors office uses.
